Position SummaryThe Dental Assist – Prosthodontist Assist works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment, ready patients, and assist during procedures. Additional tasks include suturing, x‑ray processing, take oral impressions for crowns, and supporting various dental specialties.
Responsibilities- Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist.
- Perform a variety of patient‑care, office, and laboratory duties, including chair‑side assistance while dentists examine and treat patients.
- Ensure patient comfort, prepare them for treatment, and obtain dental records.
- Hand instruments and materials to dentists, and keep patients’ mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments, prepare trays, and instruct patients on postoperative care.
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x‑rays, and process x‑ray film as directed by a dentist.
- Assist with radiological procedures as directed by the dentist.
- Perform office duties: scheduling appointments, receiving patients, maintaining records, sending bills, collecting payments, and ordering supplies.
- Assist in specialty areas such as oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics (including implantology).
- Support the hygienist with cleaning trays, room setups, and clean‑ups.
- Help track inventory of prosthetic supplies and keep the storage closet organized.
- Support radiographic needs of Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists.
- Dental assistants work in a well‑lit, clean environment.
- The work area is usually near the dental chair to allow rapid access to instruments and materials.
- Assistants must wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to safeguard themselves and patients from infectious diseases.
- Follow safety procedures to minimize risks associated with x‑ray machines.
- Certified as a Dental Assistant by the A.D.A.
- Two years of Dental Assistant experience.
- Dental implant experience desired.
- Reliable, team‑working, fast‑paced, and strong manual dexterity.
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Work in an office environment at own and others’ desks.
- Walk the floor, sometimes for extended periods, and help wherever needed.
- Lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Keep hand and arm steady while moving arm or holding hand.
- Manipulate small objects with precise finger coordination.
- Quickly and repeatedly adjust machine controls.
- Bend, stretch, twist, and reach with arms, legs, and body.
- Possess good multi‑limb coordination and trunk strength.
- Shift between activities or data sources as required.
Hourly rate: $30–$35.
