Conditions:
First review of applications to begin mid-February 2025. Annually renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability, to begin July 1, 2025.
- Responsible for curriculum, administration, and evaluation in medical undergraduate, graduate, post‐graduate education.
- Assists with the development, support and attainment of goals and objectives to support the fellowship.
- Teach medical students, graduate students, post‑graduate residents, fellows, and faculty, providing formative feedback and upholding professionalism.
- Demonstrate commitment to the delivery of safe, equitable, high‑quality, cost‑effective, patient‑centered care.
- Administer and maintain an educational environment conductive to educating fellows.
- Regularly participates in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and conferences.
- Participate in faculty development.
- Supervise and teach upper and lower GI Endoscopy to GI Fellows.
- Conduct and promote research and scholarly activities.
- Contribute scholarly activities required for accreditation.
- Other duties as assigned
Assistant Professor
- MD degree or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school.
- Current certification in the subspecialty (Gastroenterology) by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
- Current Hawaii medical license by date of hire.
- Demonstrated ability in teaching and patient care.
- Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Same as Assistant Plus
- Four years in the rank of Assistant Professor, or four years of other medical experience, or a total of four years of teaching in the rank of Assistant Professor and other experience, or one year at the rank of Associate Professor at another medical school of recognized standing.
- Proven ability to teach medical students, residents, or fellows.
- Evidence of excellent patient care in a collaborative environment.
- Evidence of effective research and scholarly activity (i.e., recent publications in peer‑reviewed journals or regional/national presentations), or medical education administration.
- Experience in academic and/or clinical program administration.
- Recognition for having made a significant scholarly contribution to the clinical specialty.
- Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues.
- Experience functioning in a complex system of multiple organizations and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and evaluation.
- Credentialed with local Hospital Health Systems.
- 1–3 years of experience directly related to teaching, clinical, and research endeavors.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and evaluation, provider of educational activities as required by the LCME, ACGME, and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.
- Staff physician privileges at teaching medical center where GI Fellows are being trained.
