Punahou's Junior School Summer Programs are actively recruiting kindergarten and first grade Assistant Teachers. The Assistant Teacher collaborates with the teacher to create a teaching team that allows for more flexibility within the classroom, and the ability to break away in smaller groups with more opportunities for student‑teacher interaction. They work in partnership with the classroom teacher to develop the curriculum and instructional practices which will best support the growth and development of each student.

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 12:30 PM, Hours may vary depending on enrollment - Stipend Amount: $3,869
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of experience supervising students in an elementary school setting.
- Knowledge of subject areas, grade‑level curriculum and content.
- Demonstrated familiarity with curriculum, teaching methods and assessment frameworks in the subjects and age ranges; and age‑related expectations of students.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds; an understanding of the developmental needs of young children, sensitivity to each individual student’s needs; and ability to appreciate the variety of perspectives offered by individual viewpoints, disciplines and cultural understandings.
