Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of Principal Investigator and evaluator, provide support for a research project relating to K-8 writing for Native Hawaiian students and Pacific islanders.
  • Conduct Kakau Mea Nui online tutoring for students in grade 3-8 writing.
  • Assist with data entry and database management.
  • Assist with data collection, including surveys, focus groups, and field observations.
  • Create presentation and promotional material (physical and digital) for conference presentations, newsletters and websites.
  • Analyze quantitative data using basic statistical methods (e.g., means, standard deviations, t-tests).
  • Create tables and figures based on quantitative data findings.
  • Draft plain language summaries of quantitative and qualitative findings.
  • Assist with project reports, abstracts, conference presentations, and manuscripts for submission.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Classified graduate status in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) at the University of Hawaii Manoa.
  • Experience with quantitative methods and/or qualitative research methods.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable

Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a K-12 setting or programs involving Native Hawaiian and Pacific-island youth.
  • Experience in manuscript/grant proposal preparation.
  • Experience with statistical software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, responsibly and collaboratively while efficiently managing tasks and projects to completion.
