Hawai`i Pacific University’s (HPU) Physician Assistant (PA) program is seeking motivated Adjunct Faculty to assist with curriculum delivery for the Master of Medical Science-Physician Assistant Program. PA Program Adjunct Faculty will report directly to the Program Director and work collaboratively with the core faculty team to develop and deliver quality PA education that meets program competencies, program learning outcomes, and ARC-PA accreditation standards.
This includes educational components for the didactic and clinical phase of the program. Adjunct faculty will be assigned to duties based on program need and alignment with the clinical expertise and skill of the adjunct faculty member. Depending on job duties, adjunct faculty may be required to travel and stay in Honolulu for student immersion sessions for assigned activities, and/or to represent the HPU PA program in carrying out clinical site recruitment and site visits.
Travel for site visits is throughout the U.S.
Compensation ($1,500 per credit) is provided based on credit-hour equivalence (1 credit = 15 hours) for time spent carrying out adjunct faculty responsibilities. If travel is required by the program and adjunct teaching duties, all approved travel-related expenses will be covered by HPU in accordance with HPU’s Travel Policy.
Qualifications- Degree from an accredited physician assistant program, or a U.S. accredited medical school, or a terminal degree in an area of medical science (e.g., PhD, ScD)
- One year of experience in clinical practice or one year of teaching experience in PA or medical school (includes teaching in PA or medical residency/fellowship programs)
- Current NCCPA certification (if a PA) or current board certification (if a physician)
- Ability to work a schedule that reflects regular business hours in the Hawaii time zone
- Current residency in Hawai`i
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
- Must have reliable computer technology and wi‑fi to record asynchronous lectures and to participate in synchronous sessions.
- Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
- Must have reliable transportation to facilitate travel to HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes access to an airport with regular flight.
