Prevention & Education Specialist (FAP)
Location:
Military and Family Support Center (MFSC), Joint Base Pearl Harbor – Hickam, Navy Region Hawaii.
- Non-clinical training and education delivery to MFSC customers in group or classroom settings (Stress Management, Anger Management, Communication Skills, Parenting Skills, Suicide Awareness/Prevention, Spouse Orientation).
- Deployment Support programming – Return & Reunion Workshops, family support for deployed personnel, Ombudsman and Key Spouse support, emergency case management and crisis response.
- Family Advocacy Program (FAP) education and training coordination – planning and implementing command training for all MFSC AOR commands annually; first 90‑day senior leadership training.
- Family Violence Prevention and Education – annual training for key responders and child development center staff; briefings to COs, XOs, FAP Command POCs, senior enlisted personnel, CRC/IDC, chaplains, installation law enforcement, medical staff.
- Operational Stress Control – briefings and workshops using standardized curriculum;
Operational Prepare training on disaster preparedness for military personnel and families. - Public Awareness and Prevention Campaigns – coordination of national child abuse prevention, domestic violence awareness month, military child and family month, suicide awareness month activities.
- Collaboration – liaison with civilian and military professional resources, agencies, community organizations, and command outreach to enhance comprehensive education/prevention programs.
- Curriculum Management – develop, implement, evaluate MFSC education and FAP courses; conduct annual needs assessment surveys; update course content and maintain CNIC certification standards.
- Orientation and Training – coordinate MFSC orientation for new personnel and quarterly staff training sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, human/social services, social work, early childhood education, psychology, or family studies with emphasis in adult learning; preferred graduate degree.
- Three to five years of experience in adult education, family advocacy, or military family support services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention, family systems, domestic abuse, and military family programs.
- Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills; proficiency with PowerPoint and presentation technology.
- Ability to assess program effectiveness, analyze data, and translate findings into course improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid U.S. citizenship and a valid driver's license; REAL if required.
- Pass all applicable background and records checks, including E‑Verify employment verification.
- Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status.
- Acceptable identity verification for access to CNRH installations (REAL ).
