Punahou School’s mission includes providing an environment where students can develop intellectual and physical potential to the fullest degree. The Punahou Tennis School serves students of all skill levels in grades K-12 and is committed to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment conducive to learning the game of tennis while maximizing the potential for all students through various development programs.
Students K-12 are exposed to tennis through curricular PE classes offered during the regular school day, after‑school, and summer course offerings, Jr. Team Tennis (JTT) league play, and interscholastic Intermediate/JV/Varsity team opportunities (grades 7‑12).
- Assist in all aspects of Punahou’s tennis programs, services, and operations.
- Plan, coordinate, administer, and perform tennis programming and services including teaching private and group lessons, coaching Jr. Team Tennis teams, coordinating the Jr. Team Tennis schedule, teaching PE classes, and supervising during FOPT hours.
- Coordinate special events, programs, and tournaments as needed.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment and be flexible and open‑minded with respect to learning styles.
- Contribute to a learning culture among colleagues that models collaboration, continuous learning, reflective practice, peer support, and the ability to adopt an educational approach to teaching tennis in alignment with the Aims of a Punahou Education.
- Play an integral role in promoting tennis as an educational tool and lifelong sport for all ages.

- Work Hours:
Variable shifts, Monday‑Friday, 2:30 PM–4:30 PM; occasional Saturdays; schedule may vary based on operational needs. - Minimum Hourly Rate: $30.00 per hour – compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Three (3) years of experience teaching/coaching tennis or college level experience playing competitively.
- One (1) year of experience working with youth preferred.
- Tennis teaching certification required (e.g., RSPA/PTR/USTA/ITF) or willingness to work toward and maintain certification.
- Demonstrates high proficient level of tennis playing ability to teach/coach varying skill levels of players K‑12 (recommended minimum NTRP 4.5 rating and/or UTR
7). - Current CPR AED certification.
