Title: Part-Time After School Care Leader
Job Status: Temporary, Part-Time, Non-exempt
Pay Rate: $17.60 per hour
Hours: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday during the Spring Semester (mid‑January 2026 through June 2026)

Job SummaryIolani School is seeking energetic and dependable individuals to join our After School Care team. Successful candidates will enjoy working with students and adults, functioning as an active member of the team to support student safety. Approachability, flexibility and clear communication are valued and essential skills. Iolani After School Care provides a safe, nurturing, enriching and fun environment for students in kindergarten through sixth grade during the academic year's after school hours.
After School Care employees must complete mandatory orientation, training and fingerprint background check.
- Monitor After School Care students in a variety of settings (ie: play areas, study time, escorting to and from activities, Autoline, etc.) ensuring student safety and adherence to all school day and After School Care policies and procedures.
- Develop and foster healthy rapport with and between students by listening to understand student needs, encourage growth, provide accountability and necessary support.
- Model positive behavior, respect, and care when interacting with students.
- Escort students to vehicles during Autoline dismissal as assigned.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with supervisors, staff, students, and families.
- Maintains necessary clerical records including attendance, injury, illness and incident reports.
- Assists with planning and executing a diverse variety of age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities and games.
- Provides first aid when needed.
- Attends meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Related experience and/or training preferred.
- Currently (or ability to be) certified in first aid/CPR or other emergency procedures preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated constructive and flexible approach to all aspects of required duties.
- Ability to handle interruptions and multiple demands.
- Ability to appropriately interact with students and colleagues in various situations.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for sustained periods of time.
- Full leg and arm mobility (walking, ability to access overhead shelves).
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Full range of head and neck movement.
- Ability to see and hear with or without correction.
- Unrestricted ability to bend knees, raise arms above the head, and to move hands, fingers, and wrist.
- Due to work in close proximity to children, must pass fingerprinting and background clearance checks.
- TB clearance required.
- Complete all DHS staff requirements for program licensing.
