Senior Mechanical Preconstruction Director

We’re hiring a Senior Mechanical Preconstruction Director in Honolulu, HI to lead design, estimating, and value engineering efforts on large commercial mechanical projects.

• Shape early-phase project strategy and mechanical system design
• Lead high-impact value engineering and cost planning
• Bridge engineering, estimating, and client needs with clear solutions
• Win complex, high-profile projects through smart preconstruction

• Oversee preconstruction for large mechanical scopes from concept to contract
• Lead design reviews, estimating, value engineering, and constructability planning
• Coordinate across design, estimating, and operations teams
• Develop and present budgets, proposals, and technical solutions to clients
• Use software tools for modeling, estimating, and design analysis
• Support contract negotiations and early buyout phases
• Mentor junior precon and estimating staff

Must-Haves

• Based in Honolulu or open to relocation
• 10+ years in mechanical preconstruction or engineering roles
• Stable work history with large commercial projects
• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Strong skills in estimating, engineering design, and value analysis
• Excellent communication and client-facing presentation skills

Nice-to-Haves

• PE license (preferred)
• Familiarity with estimating/design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble, etc.)
• Background in hospitals, labs, data centers, or complex mechanical builds
