About the Job

Our staff work on high-quality, high-profile, local, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the complete project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities. Many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm. Our Engineers are subject matter experts who can effectively communicate and coordinate technical topics with owners, architects, other engineers, contractors and vendors.

  • Well-developed with some advanced experience in structured cabling, audio visual security and code required building technology systems.
  • Coordinates and manages project teams and small- to mid-size projects
  • Competence in analytical techniques in solving complex technical problems

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Demonstrates commitment to keeping current in technical knowledge of current and emerging practices and applications technology
  • Ability to interact well with others as well as develop and contribute to high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals
  • May approve and sign off on work technical issues within project time and budget
  • May contribute to ensuring staffing needs are met and key employees are retained and engaged
  • Provides leadership in technical and professional activities on projects
  • Develops solid client relationships
  • Obtains additional professional licenses/ certifications
  • Seeks out opportunities to mentor junior staff
  • Actively participate in industry events (speaking, contributing to papers / articles, etc.)
  • Pursues additional education / training to deepen technical skills
  • Understands local and national codes and industry standards (NEC, IBC, NFPA, BICSI, EIA/TIA, AVIXA) related to the design and operation of building technology systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Possess a four-year degree (B.S. in engineering is preferred) or equivalent combination of technical degree and related work experience designing technology systems for buildings.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience actively designing high-end building technology systems for the AEC consulting and engineering industry.
  • U.S. Security clearance or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security clearance is required.
  • RCDD Industry certification is preferred.
  • Other industry certifications (ASIS CPP, AVIXA (Info Comm) CTS/-D, Cisco CCNA, etc.) is a plus although not required.
  • Design experience related to Audiovisual, DAS and/or Data Network/Wi-Fi/Telephony is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients.
  • Revit experience desired.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients including federal and public clients, architects and building owners.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
