Electrical Project Engineer

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Electrical Project Engineer with the potential to work out of any WSP office, including Boise, Idaho;
Honolulu, HI; or Huntsville, AL. The role involves working on projects with our Federal Services Division team, including mission‑critical infrastructure design such as power delivery, power generation, power distribution, backup power, UPS, system studies, renewable energy, MEP design, and related projects.

This Opportunity

The selected candidate may work remotely full‑time at a location other than a POWER‑designated office or job site. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Strong team leadership, mentoring, excellent communication skills, presentation skills, motivation, positive attitude, and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently will be core skills for the successful candidate. The department is growing and the successful applicant will play an important role in the development of a sustainable electrical department with staff filling roles at all experience levels.
  • Interface directly with internal and external clients and demonstrate a proven ability to drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Lead design teams including sub‑consultants and work with federal clients on energy and infrastructure projects, handling multiple large and small projects simultaneously.
  • Be a licensed professional engineer in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineering License with the ability to be licensed in multiple states.
  • Seven (7) years of applicable experience leading technical design teams on federal government projects, with specific experience with NAVFAC or USACE, and demonstrated execution of design‑build and design‑bid‑build interdisciplinary design projects for US Government clients.
  • Working knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS).
  • Seven years of experience in the design and specification of electrical power distribution systems or mechanical systems, and building design.
  • Broad understanding of architectural and engineering system designs and multi‑discipline coordination.
  • Ability to mentor design teams.
  • Successfully manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; willingness to travel domestically and internationally; and experience working successfully in a customer‑focused, project‑oriented environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten (10) years of applicable experience leading technical design teams and in the design and specification of electrical power distribution systems or mechanical systems and building design.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance.
  • Experience with mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
  • Solid foundation in implementing CAD and BIM software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Micro Station.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $75,600 – 121,770. WSP USA provides the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and offers for this position, based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity and geographic location.
