Social Service Assistant IV (Office of the Public Guardian/DL), SR-11, Honolulu, Oahu.

The position is responsible for providing comprehensive intake and ongoing support services to adult wards under guardianship. This includes conducting investigations of the ward’s residence to locate important personal documents and assets, coordinating with family members, caregivers, and service providers, and assisting with applications for public benefits and identification documents. The position involves extensive fieldwork—visiting clients, assessing their living conditions and well‑being, and ensuring their safety and access to necessary services.
The position also transports and accompanies wards to medical appointments, court appearances, and other essential activities; prepares required reports and documentation; purchases necessary items; explores community resources; and maintains accurate client records using designated software.
Graduation from high school. Experience of the type described below or work experience requiring the ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions, or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for lack of high school education.
Specialized Experience RequirementThree (3) years of progressively responsible experience in providing supportive services to social workers, vocational rehabilitation specialists, public housing managers, or other professional workers in such programs as public welfare, family court, vocational rehabilitation, and public housing; e.g., performing clerical tasks in processing various documents, transporting clients and materials to and from various destinations, explaining to clients or tenants the services available, assisting in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming.
