Medical Assistant; He

The Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Health Services Branch (HSB), is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its dedicated medical examination team supporting the City's pre-employment and periodic health screening program. This position focuses on medical examinations, testing, vaccinations, documentation and customer service. Your work will help ensure City employees are ready to serve Honolulu.

• Conduct pre-examination health assessments (e.g., height, weight, BMI, lung capacity, hearing, blood pressure, EKG, TB Screening, etc.).
• Administer vaccination injections as part of an immunization program.
• Operate medical testing equipment (e.g., spirometer, audiometer, sphygmomanometer, vision tester, EKG, centrifuge, etc.).
• Collect urine drug screening samples.
• Coordinate and implement preventive and routine maintenance for medical equipment.
• Work with medical staff and the Medical Records Section to maintain smooth workflow and good customer service during examinations.

• Experience in a clinical screening or medical examination setting.
• Experience operating medical testing equipment.
• Experience administering vaccinations or performing TB skin tests.
• At least six months of relevant experience, including independently performing medical examinations

• Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m.
  
  -3:15 p.m.
• Must be on call during weekdays, weekends, and holidays

Equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of an accredited medical assisting program.

The education requirement must be met at the time of application. • Performing basic clinical tests and using standard testing equipment
• Understanding of the general structure and functions of the human body
• Administering immunizations
• Managing medical supply inventory
• Following laws and regulations for issuing and properly disposing of medical or other specialized supplies and equipment

Successful completion of a training course for Pulmonary Function Testing and Audiometric Testing to satisfy OSHA requirements pertaining to qualification of testing personnel, prior to completion of probation.
