Position: Front Services - Front Services Clerk (Part-Time)

As an integral part of a team, the Porter Clerk continuously seeks ways to improve each guest’s experience. The Porter Clerk assists the Bell team in helping guests into and out of the hotel, coordinating the pick‑up and delivery of guests’ luggage and items, and managing valet cars as requested. The role is expected to provide exceptional guest service with a helpful attitude, supplying all necessary information and anticipatory assistance to meet guests’ needs.

Essential

Functions

As the first point of contact, the Porter Clerk warmly greets and welcomes arriving guests and patrons. The clerk answers the phone courteously within two rings, coordinates guests’ requests and special services, and communicates with the appropriate departments. The clerk manages the collection and delivery of luggage efficiently and accurately, verifies all transactions in the daily log, receives and marks luggage with claim tags, and notifies Guest Relations upon guest arrival to facilitate seamless check‑in.

The clerk assists with moving vehicles if necessary, provides accurate information on local attractions and entertainment, anticipates guests’ needs and responds promptly, performs administrative duties such as updating the logbook, directory, and reference email, ensures the timely delivery and collection of group luggage, maintains the valet experience to the hotel’s standards, verifies luggage accounting, assists with long‑term luggage storage, collaborates with other departments to resolve guest opportunities, reports any security or safety issues to the Porter Supervisor, maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas, acts as the hotel’s “eyes and ears” of security, and performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education / Experience

High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate, at least six months of hospitality experience or equivalent, strong guest/customer service skills, familiarity with property management systems helpful. Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.

Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable abstract.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Familiarity with all hotel services and features, friendly, outgoing personality, professional demeanor, ability to work independently amid interruptions, multi‑task management, basic office machine and computer software knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook), basic mathematical skills, driving ability with manual and automatic transmission, anticipation of guest needs, research and resource organization, creative problem solving, proficiency in property management system or application, teamwork skills, high organization and detail orientation, knowledge of service vendors, poised and professional image, good voice image, availability for various days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Continuous standing at the porter’s desk with frequent walking, running, bending, stooping; frequent pushing and pulling up to 110 lbs, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 20 lbs; visual and hearing skills; ability to access all work areas; work under deadlines and pressure; resolve customer service issues; maintain an outgoing, positive attitude; clear verbal and written communication; ability to handle multiple priorities and anticipate needs.
