Research Scientist, Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Reaction Dynamics & Materials in Extreme Environments Group, Department of Chemistry, University of Hawai'i at Manoa, invites applications for Postdoctoral Associates in the areas of experimental condensed phase and gas phase reaction dynamics. The prime directive of the ‘ice’ projects are to explore the formation of a) complex organic molecules in interstellar ices and b) the chemistry of refrigerants on atmospheric ice particles exploiting isomer selective tunable vacuum ultraviolet light in conjunction with reflectron time of flight mass spectrometry.
The gas phase projects tackle crossed beam experiments on the reactivity of refrigerants and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the terrestrial atmosphere and setting up a tunable vacuum ultraviolet laser system and to explore the hydrogen-assisted cleavage of aromatic carbon-sulfur bonds in a chemical micro reactor.
The appointment period is for a maximum of five years in annual increments based on satisfactory progress. A description of our research group can be found at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
