Highway Inn is an award‑winning 78‑year‑old, third‑generation‑owned Hawaiian and local food restaurant. Situated at the Bishop Museum in a brand‑new restaurant, we are open from 10:30 to 3:30 daily, offering equivalent work hours to a 9‑5 job. The cafe manager will report to executive management alongside the managers of our Kakaʻako and Waipahu locations.
- Able to perform most front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house operational responsibilities.
- Schedule labor, generate orders, set par levels, and write shift reports.
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of the operation, from menus to POS to parking and equipment and infrastructure.
- Interact with customers and Museum staff from all over the world.
- Operate at a managerial level and assume the appropriate responsibilities for managing all aspects of a small restaurant/café.
- 2 to 5 years of customer service experience or in a similar role; experience in a themed cafe setting is a plus.
- Back‑of‑house hands‑on and management experience, including food safety and bar/liquor qualifications.
- Experience managing inventory, pars, and ordering.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiar with POS and IT systems.
- Strong attendance record.
- Positive attitude and practical; e.g., can and will fix a broken lamp.
- Team leader who can multitask efficiently.
- Able to stand and/or walk continuously for long periods of time, read the POS screen, and hear customers in an often‑noisy environment.
- Must be able to lift 20‑25 pounds with or without assistance.

Office hours from 10:30 to 3:30 daily, except for special events in the evenings. Manager expected to work 40–50 hours per week.
