Position Summary
VP
- Sales is responsible for executing and translating UHA’s sales strategy and sales operating system to drive sustainable membership growth, revenue performance, market expansion, and competitive positioning. Reporting to the Chief Sales Officer, this role leads day-to-day sales operations and helps develop enterprise sales priorities into actionable growth plans, broker and channel strategies, key employer relationship strategies, market intelligence, forecasting discipline, and annual and long-range sales objectives.

- Sales partners closely with the Chief Sales Officer and cross-functional leaders to advance growth opportunities, manage sales risks, strengthen market presence, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team aligned with UHA’s purpose, values, and leadership expectations.
- Execute UHA’s sales strategy and annual sales plans to achieve membership growth, revenue, and long-term market objectives.
- Lead new business acquisition, broker/channel strategy, employer group development, market segmentation, and revenue expansion.
- Oversee sales performance, pipeline quality, forecasting, broker production, market intelligence, and competitive analysis.
- Develop strategic relationships with brokers, consultants, employers, and key decision-makers while proactively addressing retention risks.
- Partner with the Chief Sales Officer and cross-functional leaders on pricing, underwriting, product positioning, sales enablement, marketing, and operational readiness.
- Lead strategic prospects, large-group opportunities, complex negotiations, and finalist presentations while coaching and developing a high-performing sales team.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, marketing, finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and executive-level experience.
- 10+ years of progressive sales, business development, broker/channel, commercial health insurance, employee benefits, or related leadership experience with demonstrated success achieving growth and revenue goals.
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience leading and developing sales teams and overseeing sales strategy, business development, broker/channel performance, or revenue-generating functions.
- Strong strategic, financial, market, and executive communication skills.
- Experience with CRM systems, sales analytics, forecasting tools, and performance dashboards.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Executive-level experience in Hawaiʻi’s health insurance, employee benefits, broker, employer group, or healthcare market.
- Experience building or transforming sales functions, sales operations, broker programs, or multi-channel growth strategies.
