Primary RolePerforms semi‑skilled to skilled work maintaining wastewater collection and plant systems, assists other technicians, participates in operation, maintenance, control, and repair of plant equipment, ensures compliance with quality standards, makes equipment adjustments, lubrications, minor repairs, reports problems, assists electricians, performs housekeeping duties to meet NPDES, OSHA, BMP, and keeps facilities clean.
Key Accountabilities- Reports on unusual conditions to management with recommendations for correction and completes tasks assigned by Supervisor.
- Works flexible schedule, stands by for emergencies such as sewage spills, line blockages, customer claims, storm water runoff, power failures, chemical leakages.
- Assists in managing work schedules, coordinates with on‑duty operators, completes work orders on time.
- Prepares CM and PM reports in internet‑based software, Map Call.
- Processes invoices and P‑Card statements, purchases small equipment and supplies, assists management with inventory.
- Attends monthly tailgate meetings.
- Trains others for pump station emergencies and routine maintenance tasks.
- Maintains timecards, recording hours spent.
- Performs other work as required.
- Basic mechanic, pump, motor, pump station automatic control systems, wastewater treatment facilities, collection system operations, practices, techniques, servicing requirements.
- OSHA rules and safety practices for electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Procedures, materials, tools, equipment, safety hazards and precautions in assigned areas.
- Effective and courteous communication with internal and external customers.
- Determine required equipment, tools, labor and materials.
- Use hand and power tools.
- Exercise independent judgment, maintain effective relationships.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot instrumentation, gauges, recording devices.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records.
- Legible writing and accurate simple calculations.
- Lift up to 50 lbs; stand, bend, stoop, shovel, sweep, walk, climb.
- Work in registered confined spaces with PPE and proper safety procedures.
- Operate company motor vehicles and equipment.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Use computer tools and SCADA system to analyze and report facility data.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- 1–3 years maintenance experience.
- Must be on Oahu.
- 20% travel to the Big Island.
- Position subject to call‑back, overtime, weekend/holiday call‑outs.
- Exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, water, sewage.
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.
- Hours:
6 am – 2:30 pm, Monday‑Friday. - Must work alone and with team; basic computer skills.
