Position: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (RFT/NAVY LODGE)

Job Summary

Performs various maintenance tasks involving construction and alteration repairs of NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG buildings and equipment. Plans and lays out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blue‑prints, and own knowledge of construction or needed repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs work in at least three of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures: plumbing, washer/dryer repair, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting.
  • Plumbing:
    Makes plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P‑traps, shut‑off valves, washing machines, and water supply. Installs water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets, and sinks. Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out routes, placement, slope, and operation of systems and equipment.
  • Washer Dryer repair:
    Performs routine maintenance on washers and dryers, cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings as required, and referring complex problems to supervisor.
  • HVAC:
    Recognizes causes of faulty equipment and makes repairs on various HVAC units, including domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units. Plans work, selects proper tools, and accomplishes repairs according to accepted trade practices.
  • Electrical:
    Repairs wiring, controls, and fixtures; replaces ballasts, bulbs, and tubes; installs or repairs electrical systems incidental to construction or maintenance of facilities. Conducts tests with voltage testers, ammeters, and polarity testers.
  • Carpentry:
    Constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies wood and wood‑substitute structures, including building frames, rafters, walls, staircases, door and window frames, and interior trim. Operates various woodworking machines and assembles items with diverse joining techniques.
  • Painting:
    Applies coating materials with brushes, rollers, spray guns, and graining devices, ensuring surfaces meet specified thicknesses, levels, and decorative finish requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

General Experience

One year of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, etc.

Substitution of Education for Experience

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Specialized Experience

Three years of general maintenance work involving a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and painting. Includes knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment, chemicals, and basic safe work practices.

Physical Requirements

Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds. A recognized professional certification or license in one of the trades plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, or painting is preferred.
