General Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a General Maintenance Worker for our ISS2 contract supporting the Air Force customer on Wake Island. The position is rotational: 3 months on the island followed by 1 month off (unpaid). While on‑site, housing is provided in a dormitory facility and all meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You will be responsible for arranging transportation from your home base to Honolulu, with government‑sponsored aircraft transportation to Wake Island.

This is a negotiated union position.

• Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and grounds maintenance.
• Assist journeyman‑level trades personnel and execute assigned work orders and recurring maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
• Supply workers with materials and tools, hold materials or tools, and clean work areas, machines, and equipment.
• Make repairs to walls and ceilings using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks, including replacing or repairing ceiling tiles.
• Replace or repair sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
• Assist with corrosion control techniques for structures and equipment.
• Replace or repair concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, doors, windows, and associated hardware.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Remove vegetation using walking or riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, and similar equipment.
• Move and arrange heavy office equipment, household furniture, equipment, and appliances as needed.
• Inspect work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
• Respond to call‑outs after normal working hours, as needed.
• Perform other tasks as directed.
• Use hand and power tools safely in routine or incidental work.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in maintenance trades.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to understand and speak English.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check, fingerprints, physical, and drug test.
• Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries background investigation.
