$20.83 per hour
$ 5.55 Health and Welfare
Essential duties and responsibilitiesThe Material Handling Laborer is responsible for performing physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise.
- Loading, unloading and delivery of furnishings and appliances to customers
- Receive furnishings into an organization and verify furnishings against service orders to ensure the accuracy of the delivery
- Responsible for the inventory shipments and notating any discrepancies
- Routing furnishings to storage location
- Assisting Appliance Technician in repairs and delivery
- Workers may use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts and dollies to bring furnishings to an appropriate location
- Assisting in weekly forklift maintenance
- Cleaning and repairing furnishings
- Unloading furniture / appliances from shipping containers
- Ability to lift 75 Pounds
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- Required to perform inventory of property.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years specialized experience in DoD preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Knowledge of standard warehouse loading and storage techniques required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted is required
- Ability to pass DoD background investigation required.
- Beginner to intermediate computer skills; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
- Ability to enter data accurately into databases
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with customers and other crew members
- Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
- Ability to follow a process
- Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up
- Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
- Ability to multi-task.
