Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Elysian Aircraft, we're not just building a company; we're crafting a vision for the future of aviation. With the sky as our canvas, we see endless possibilities on our journey. Supported by industry leaders and global organizations, our mission to create the aircraft of the future is already taking flight.

We are engineers. We are pilots. We are builders. We don’t chase hype. We are true to science. Like the pioneers of aviation, we build what doesn’t exist yet.

We welcome people who bring different perspectives, backgrounds, and paths. New angles fuel honest debates to challenge conventions when the problems are first-of-a-kind.

This is Elysian and we are on a mission to enable the electrification of the aerospace industry. If that makes your pulse rise, come build with us.

Your Mission:

Own system safety work packages and produce clear, evidence-backed safety analyses that drive design and verification

  • Convert functional hazards into concrete, verifiable safety requirements and mitigations.
  • Maintain a controlled safety evidence chain (functional hazards - safety requirements - verification).
  • Keep safety work practical: unblock engineering decisions while improving rigour.
Day-to-Day:
  • Own safety assessment work packages (e.g. FHA/PSSA/SSA analyses), within an aircraft development program.
  • Define safety requirements and ensure traceability into system design and verification activities.
  • Facilitate hazard identification and fault/failure analysis with engineering teams (structured workshops, evidence capture).
  • Maintain safety artefacts under configuration control and manage changes with impact assessments.
  • Translate safety findings into concrete engineering actions (requirements, design mitigations, test cases).
  • Support verification planning to ensure mitigations are verifiable and evidence is collected.
  • Interface with the airworthiness-function to align compliance demonstration and evidence needs.
  • Track and close safety activities with clear ownership, status, and evidence.
Traits for Success:
  • BSc/MSc in Aerospace/Systems/EE/Mechanical or similar.
  • 3-7 years’ experience in system safety engineering (ARP
4761) or similar development assurance roles (ARP
    4754).
  • Ability to run structured functional hazard and system safety assessments and produce clear, reviewable outputs.
  • Strong traceability discipline: hazards - safety requirements - mitigations - verification evidence.
  • Ability to work across teams and challenge designs with credibility and pragmatism.
  • Clear writing: concise safety arguments, assumptions, and limitations.
  • Comfortable operating with uncertainty; you reduce it systematically.
  • Strong configuration control mindset (revision control, baseline definitions, change impact).
Nice-to-have:
  • Familiarity with common aerospace safety assessment processes (concept development).
  • Experience supporting audits & safety assessment tools (requirement databases, hazard logs).
