The RoleAt Kyndryl we are looking for an IT Product Manager, who will be responsible for the strategic management and evolution of core IT platforms, including Windows, VMware, Linux, and Middleware. Acting as the technical right hand of senior management, this role combines deep platform knowledge with strong consultative and stakeholder management skills. The Product Manager translates business and strategic objectives into clear roadmaps, executable releases, and well‑documented plans, while bringing teams together to deliver sustainable platform outcomes.
A key objective is to create new “wow” within the department by fully embedding and maturing product management principles, driving clarity, innovation, and tangible value across platform services.
Key responsibility:
- Own end‑to‑end platform products, including vision, roadmap, lifecycle, risk, and value delivery
- Develop and maintain multi‑year platform roadmaps aligned with regulatory, security, and architectural standards
- Lead release and lifecycle management, ensuring controlled, predictable, and auditable change
- Lead product selection and rationalization, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cost efficiency, and scalability goals
- Drive platform migrations and modernization initiatives in line with regulatory and resilience requirements
- Drive adoption of platform engineering practices, including Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) and developer experience improvements
- Drive the evolution towards cloud‑native platforms, including container platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) and platform abstractions
- Enable zero‑touch operations through automation, event‑driven workflows, and self‑healing capabilities
- Drive adoption of desired state and policy‑driven platform operations (IaC and PaC)
- Shape and maintain a unified product and service catalog for operating systems, databases, middleware and integrations
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, translating complex technical and regulatory topics into clear recommendations
- Bring together engineering, operations, security, architecture, and vendors to deliver shared outcomes
- Establish and govern platform products and patterns (e.g., infrastructure, pipelines, security, observability)
- Create visible impact (“wow”) by strengthening product thinking, clarity, and transparency across the department
- Bring together cross‑functional product and platform teams to drive on common goals, standards, and ways of working
- Define KPIs and success metrics (adoption, efficiency, cost, developer productivity) and track platform performance
- Define and communicate clear product value propositions and measurable business outcomes (e.g., time‑to‑market, reliability, developer experience)
- Drive outcome‑based prioritization instead of feature‑based delivery
- Establish and manage structured demand intake and prioritization processes (including feature requests, stakeholder input, and product forums)
- Facilitate product circles / user groups to gather feedback and validate roadmap direction
This role opens the door to many career paths, both vertical and horizontal, and there may be opportunity to travel. It’s a great chance for database administrators or other techs to break into the cloud. It’s also a solid path to become enterprise or chief architect or a distinguished engineer! Whatever you see for yourself, you’ll find the opportunity here.
Who You AreYou’re good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. However, equally as important – you have a growth mindset; keen to drive your own personal and professional development. You are customer‑focused – someone…
