Role Summary
Avionic Technician – Boeing Defence UK Ltd (BDUK). The role is part of an MRO organization supporting key defence aircraft programmes. The successful candidate will ensure process adherence, accurate record‑keeping, and regulatory compliance while performing maintenance tasks on a variety of aircraft systems.
Responsibilities- Report to a supervisor and conduct assigned maintenance tasks while ensuring technical instructions are correctly interpreted.
- Verify that work is carried out in accordance with Approved Technical Data and that tasks are properly certified.
- Execute aircraft maintenance activities to meet scheduled milestones, controlling and sequencing individual workloads.
- Maintain acceptable work standards, first‑time quality and performance measures.
- Deliver aircraft maintenance under Boeing’s MAA MRP Part 145 approval or under MOD customer approval.
- Perform assembly, disassembly, modification or repair of aircraft systems, structures, electronics and components.
- Upgrade aerospace components to correct failures or implement changes as required.
- Conduct routine troubleshooting of complex aircraft systems such as pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical/electronic to isolate faults and repair components in accordance with authorised maintenance documents.
- Show flexibility with work locations and times to ensure aircraft are delivered to the customer on schedule.
- Provide advice, guidance and mentoring to peers and other appropriate personnel.
- Escalate emerging risks, issues and shortfalls in a timely manner and mitigate immediate risks, including ‘stop work’ when necessary.
- Contribute to continuous improvement workshops and projects as required.
- Exercise 100% oversight of work performed by Boeing apprentices or trainees and provide mentoring as directed.
- Promote a culture of open and honest reporting.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distribute and sequence technical work to a team.
- Strong understanding of technical documents, drawings and associated publications.
- Working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ability to apply these requirements within area of responsibility and authority.
- Recognised trade apprenticeship or equivalent trade training.
- Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and processes applicable to the aviation environment (human factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH).
- Experience in either commercial or defence aviation sectors.
- Proficient computer skills, including use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Eligibility to apply for first signature on type within the first three months in the role.
