Join our team at Hook Norton Veterinary Group – a proud, independent practice with a reputation for excellence in Equine, Farm and Small Animal care.
We’re looking for a motivated and hands‑on Equine Clinic Assistant to join our busy 24/7 Equine Clinic for a period of maternity cover. You’ll be joining a supportive and professional team of 11 Vets, 2 REVN’s and 3 Students – all passionate about delivering the highest standard of care.
You’ll be working at the heart of the clinic, ensuring our patients are comfortable, cared for, and ready for treatment, while keeping our clinical and theatre spaces prepared for whatever the day brings.
Our clinic consists of 7 stables, isolation, theatre, x-ray, prep area, paddock and lunge pad area. A large part of this role is to ensure these key areas are maintained to the highest hygiene standards and are prepped and ready to go every day.
About the RoleAs an Equine Clinic Assistant, you’ll be a vital link between our clinical team and our patients. While no two days are the same, your focus will be on providing exceptional care, maintaining high standards, and supporting smooth daily operations in a fast‑paced and ever‑changing environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming clients and managing patient admissions/discharges
- Delivering daily patient care and monitoring
- Assisting vets and nurses with handling and treatments
- Keeping clinic, yard, and theatre areas clean, safe, and well‑organised
- Using initiative to stay proactive and support the flow of a busy caseload
We’re looking for someone with:
- Minimum of 1 year veterinary equine clinic experience
- Confident handling horses of all sizes/temperaments
- A practical, hardworking, and adaptable attitude
- Strong communication skills – friendly, clear, and professional
- Initiative and drive – the ability to spot what needs doing and get on with it
- Commitment to high standards and pride in your work
- Reliability under pressure and attention to detail when following protocols
- Your own transport is essential due to our rural location
Whilst we will provide full onboarding and training for all new employees, it is essential that you have already worked in a veterinary setting for at least 1 year.
This role would suit someone who thrives in a team, loves being active, and is eager to play a key role in patient care within a respected equine clinic.
