Job Description

At Regions, the Business Unit Accountant provides accounting support to assigned business unit. Performs general accounting tasks that may include, but are not limited to, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing summaries or supporting documentation for reports. All work is performed in accordance with company policy and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and appropriate standards and regulations. This position provides timely and accurate financial reports to management while supporting and leading the business unit accounting functions in the efficient handling of day to day operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts of assigned business unit
• Prepares special accounting reports for management or regulatory authorities
• Investigates potential problems and gathers appropriate data for solutions
• Prepares and completes month end reporting of business unit results
• Conducts financial analyses, audits, and/or investigations of businesses expenses
• Assists in developing and monitoring accounting internal control programs for assigned unit
• Analyzes financial information for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds and ensuring overall operations are within budget
• Prepares ad hoc analysis for management
• Assists company external auditors and internal auditors, as needed, to ensure an efficient and effective audit process
• Resolves disputed items and answer routine inquiries
• Performs balance sheet reconciliations as needed

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Or High School Diploma and four (4) years of directly related experience

Skills And Competencies

• Ability to build relationships with peers and complete assignments in a team environment and independently
• Ability to work in a team environment when applicable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong detail orientation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of various assets, specifically alternative assets, is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel strongly preferred

This position is a part of Regions Bank's Fund Accounting team.

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
