Data Governance Analyst

Overview

Data Governance Analyst role at Regions Bank. This position serves as a key resource and intermediary between data owners and data consumers, maintaining connections across technical, operational, and analytical data needs with moderate guidance.

• Measures and monitors data quality, designs, and executes remediation plans, maintains and supports applicable data management standards
• Implements and supports data quality requirements as designed by the Data Owner, including business rules and movement controls
• Performs user acceptance testing (with applicable consumers) and reviews results with Data Owner for approval
• Reviews data quality issues, performs analysis, recommends fixes, and reports breaches of thresholds to Data Owners, Data Consumers, and escalates as needed to Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
• Manages and resolves or remediates data issues identified by Data Owners and Data Consumers
• Manages, executes, and tracks data quality remediation plans in coordination with all stakeholders
• Tracks and reports data quality statistics for stewarded applications, warehouses or data marts (including evidence of compliance with data standards)
• Collects and updates business metadata and references data for the assigned data
• Translates business rules into data quality rules and produces data controls (in conjunction with Data Custodians)
• Ensures data for Enterprise Critical Data Elements (ECDEs) is provisioned in an appropriate authoritative source (with Data Custodians)
• Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data from authoritative data sources
• Provides training and data assistance as needed

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or related field and five (5) years of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience
• Or High School Diploma or GED and nine (9) years of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience

• Master’s degree in Business, Science, or related field

• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Ability to work under moderate guidance
• Capacity for day-to-day, hands-on execution
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata tools
• Experience in data analytics, data profiling and transformations
• Experience with ETL tools and data lineage
• Familiarity with data quality issues and ETL processes
• Strong written, interpersonal, analytical, and application development skills
• Strong ability to review and analyze data, and identify and resolve problems
• Strong project management skills
• Strong research and problem determination and solution skills
• Strong data analysis skills including developing macros, scripts, and queries for data quality
• Cross-functional experience with multiple data assets; CAP for data flowing through systems
• Understanding of data architecture practices

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including in-office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule and in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance; relocation would be at the candidate’s expense. Locations available:
Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA.

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.

Pay ranges are disclosed as a point-of-market reference. Minimum, median, and other factors vary by location and individual performance. Target information based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for the location and level.
