Base pay range
$21.00/hr - $22.00/hr
Role Summary
A Quality - Visual Inspection Technician is a key member of the Quality Team responsible for ensuring that compounded pharmaceutical products are accurately prepared and free of defects. Visual inspection is the first post‑production activity in which filled compounded products are evaluated for product defects. This technician collaborates with production and quality staff to prioritize batches, perform inspections within reasonable time frames, classify observed defects, and carry out additional pre‑release inspections.

Job Activities and Responsibilities- Perform visual inspection of unlabeled finished drug products, classify defects into pre‑defined categories, calculate defect percentages, and document inspection results in compliance with procedures, cGMP, and CGDP.
- Label all products in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements and conduct post‑labeling inspections.
- Perform environmental and personnel monitoring associated with batch production and record room conditions in appropriate monitoring software.
- Adhere to FDA 503B guidelines, cGMP standards, and USP requirements for documentation, reporting, and record‑keeping.
- Follow safety protocols, including proper gowning, hand hygiene, equipment sanitation, routine facility cleaning, and reporting of equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Assist other process functions as required.
- Educational Background
:
High school diploma or equivalent; licensed as a pharmacy technician with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. - Experience
:
Prior experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, or manufacturing environment, particularly in sterile compounding or quality. - Attention to Detail
:
Effective organization skills, attention to detail, and precise record maintenance. - Physical Requirements
:
Stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights (up to 40 lb), work in a controlled environment, 20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids), and complete inspection certification. - Training
:
Ability to complete a two‑day off‑site training program.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with FDA, cGMP, and USP guidelines. - Visual Ability:
Detect defects through competency assessments. - Collaboration:
Work well with cross‑functional teams, including quality control, shipping, and pharmacists. - Regulatory Compliance:
Strong understanding of 503B regulations and dedication to following all facility protocols.
