Summary of

Job Duties
  • Be concerned with all teaching and student learning matters and provide instruction in accordance with the college’s philosophy, objectives, syllabus, and student learning outcomes.
  • Provide assessment of student learning and use that assessment to improve instruction.
  • Acquaint students with course requirements, how to log in to Blackboard, and how to locate grades in the first week of class; provide periodic progress evaluations.
  • Meet classes as scheduled, follow syllabi, and attend adjunct faculty and other meetings as requested by the dean.
  • Prepare thoroughly for each class session.
  • Inform the division dean if a class will not meet as scheduled.
  • Display professional mannerisms in conduct and appearance during teaching days or evening classes.
  • Provide out‑of‑class student consultation time as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in the Blackboard gradebook.
  • Emphasize the importance of prompt, regular, continuous attendance.
  • Submit the names of students needing personal counseling to the Vice Chancellor for Student Services.
  • Submit instructor withdrawals and “no‑show” students by the deadline.
  • Utilize provided documents to stay on task, including the Faculty To‑Do List and Login Cheat Sheets.
  • Submit final course grades electronically through Campus Connect promptly after the final exam but before the final grade deadline.
  • Complete and submit the end‑of‑course assessment form for each course taught electronically.
  • Report irregularities, questions, or problems concerning instruction to the division dean or the Vice Chancellor for Academics.
  • Maintain current credentials on file with the Vice Chancellor for Academic.
  • Abide by regulations outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Participate in professional activities to stay current in their disciplines.
  • Qualifications

    A Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the specific discipline is required. Teaching experience is preferred. Classes will be taught at day, night, Saturday, and online across the Hope and Texarkana campuses. The position will be filled based on enrollment needs.
