Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands‑on, results‑driven Director of Maintenance with a manufacturing and mechanical engineering background to lead process improvement initiatives and manage a maintenance team of approximately 30 team members. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in optimizing manufacturing operations, driving continuous improvement, and leading maintenance staff in a high‑volume production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the maintenance department, including a staff of supervisors, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
- Take ownership of the preventive maintenance program: evaluate, redesign, and enforce adherence to ensure full compliance and performance.
- Ensure all maintenance and engineering tasks are clearly assigned, tracked, and completed on schedule.
- Identify and implement process improvement strategies to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve product quality (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Oversee the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment.
- Serve as a key liaison between maintenance, production, and quality teams.
- Monitor KPIs and track progress toward operational goals.
- Lead capital projects and equipment upgrades, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
- Provide technical support and training to staff to ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and quality standards.
- Maintain strong vendor and contractor relationships as needed for technical services or equipment purchases.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required).
- Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams of employees, including engineers or technical personnel.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, and root cause analysis tools (DMAIC, 5 Whys, FMEA).
- Experience managing capital improvement projects and working cross‑functionally with operations and maintenance teams.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma certification or Lean Manufacturing training
- Experience in food, consumer goods, or high‑volume industrial manufacturing
- Proficient in CAD or similar design software
- Working knowledge of PLCs and automation systems
