We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join the capital projects engineering team s role involves providing structural engineering support for all phases of capital projects at chemical plants: initial planning and scoping, detailed engineering and design, and construction.

• Structural engineering and design for steel structures, equipment supports (pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, etc.), pipe supports, pipe racks, concrete foundations for tanks/equipment, equipment pads, analysis of existing structures and foundations, and underground piping.
• Develop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, and material take‑offs for estimating during project scoping.
• Produce calculations, designs, specifications, scopes of work, engineering packages, sketches/drawings for procurement, bidding, and construction.
• Review and check vendor drawings and other disciplines’ drawings for structural input.
• Perform fieldwork to gather field data, check tie‑ins, inspect/verify existing conditions, provide construction support, and provide repair recommendations.
• Provide assistance and direction to the design team to produce drawings suitable for bidding and construction purposes.
• Review fabrication drawings, requests for information (RFI), and other construction submittals for conformance with engineering drawings, requirements, and specifications.
• Travel (10%) to other Advan Six sites in Alabama, Pennsylvania, and within Virginia may be necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License (ability to obtain PA and VA licenses).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role at a chemical plant or similar industrial facility (power plant, refinery, paper/pulp, pharmaceutical, etc.).

• Strong communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and in a multi‑functional team environment.
• Experience in 3D modeling utilizing software such as AutoCAD and/or CADWorx Structure software to create 3D models and drawings.
• Experience with design software, such as Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, STAAD, RISA, GT STRUDL, etc.
