Service - Hopewell House provides compassionate support to individuals experiencing complex mental health issues, driven by an enthusiastic, professional staff team dedicated to providing person centred care.
The support delivered is tailored to and developed with an individual encompassing all aspects of wellbeing including mental, physical, spiritual and daily living skills. Our goal is to increase independence and feelings of accomplishment & assisting people to move on to more independent living.
The service is run in collaboration with service users, encouraging feedback and involvement in all areas of decision making.
Hopewell House is a supported accommodation service based close to Guilford town centre.
The service accommodates 10 residents & a variety of activities are held daily to encourage service user participation to develop skills, learn new coping strategies and to arouse new interests.
The service is staffed 24 hours with one member of staff sleeping in overnight (for which an additional allowance is paid).
Job Purpose
:
We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of caring or supporting individuals with mental health issues to work alongside the residents, putting them at the heart of all we do.
- Support people who use the service.
- Contribute to teamwork and activities.
- Work with key residents to support them to achieve their goals and aspirations.
- Provide one-to-one support or lead group activities.
- Demonstrate a non‑judgemental attitude.
- Be empathetic towards service users and create a trusting environment.
- Work alongside individuals experiencing mental distress.
- Partner with service users to develop and maintain professional boundaries.
- Maintain a safe environment and undertake domestic tasks as necessary.
- Apply problem‑solving skills to welfare benefits, education and relationships.
- Participate in formal and informal job‑related learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other organisations.
- Use email and computerised systems for service user records and reports.
- Produce clear records and reports in English.
- Reflect Together’s values and safeguard the wellbeing of clients and colleagues.
- Adhere to Together’s policies on confidentiality, GDPR and equalities.
- Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals gained from paid work and/or voluntary work or life experience.
- Lived experience of mental distress (desirable).
- Minimum of GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent.
- Basic competence in the use of email and word processing software.
- NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care, or equivalent (desirable).
- Able to travel.
- Able to work a varying pattern of shifts.
- Required DBS clearance.
- Minimum age 18 plus.
