Job SummaryNAES is seeking an experienced Auxiliary Operator for a cogeneration plant in Virginia. The Auxiliary Operator is responsible for preventing, monitoring, and basic maintenance of plant equipment, including gas turbine auxiliaries, HRSG systems, and steam-cycle equipment. This role performs field rounds, supports equipment start‑up and shutdown activities, and works closely with the Control Room Operator to maintain reliable and efficient plant operations while following all safety and environmental procedures.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the power plant, including auxiliaries and balance of plant systems, from outside the control room.
- Execute start‑up, operation, and shutdown of equipment and systems in alignment with approved plant procedures, technical manuals, and instructions from the Control Room Operator.
- Continuously monitor and accurately record local operating parameters, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal safety and efficiency.
- Assist Control Room Operators in managing the facility’s operations with minimal supervision and operate and maintain all plant equipment, including local operation via PLC panel interfaces.
- Proactively communicate any operational issues, unusual conditions, or equipment malfunctions to ensure seamless plant performance.
- Use the CMMS to log maintenance data and activities, ensuring alignment with the facility’s maintenance philosophy and operational goals.
- In-depth knowledge of power plant operations including mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of all facets of power plant operations, including systems functionality, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and policies related to plant operations and safety practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of equipment isolation and tagging procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- 2+ years of industry experience.
