Outdoor Immersion Elementary Teacher

Position:
Elementary Teacher (Grades K-5) – Gatewood Elementary

• Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and provides individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs.
• Teaches district‑approved curriculum and translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior to create an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, prepares progress reports, and communicates regularly with parents through newsletters, notes, phone calls, e‑mail, and conferences.
• Identifies pupil needs, makes referrals, and develops strategies for individual education plans.
• Assists in coordinating the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
• Works collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and community partners to plan instruction and assess student learning.
• Participates in professional development, meetings, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best teaching practices.
• Promotes a harmonious and effective workplace, demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior.

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field.
• MN Teaching License (elementary K‑6) required.
• Valid driver’s license.

• District policies, curriculum requirements, and learning objectives.
• State and federal laws governing public education.
• Effective oral and written communication, including correct business English.
• Computer applications relevant to teaching.
• Positive classroom management and inclusive instructional strategies.

Work in a school environment requires sit for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and use visual and hearing skills for communication.

Full‑time, FTE – 185 days per year, HEA Union Contract. Salary ranges: BA $45,627‑$65,024; MA $50,702‑$82,203. Benefits information available via provided links.
