- Receive and place calls to clients for scheduling.
- Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
- Maintain documentation through client and pet records, including referral documentation and medical history.
- Assist clients by providing necessary instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian’s instructions, and scheduling future appointments.
- Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
- Manage the hospital’s financial needs by maintaining accurate balances, collecting client transactions, following cash and credit card handling procedures, and completing proper opening and closing procedures.
- Advocate for pets through client education on preventive care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations, and all other hospital services/procedures.
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate empathy toward clients and pets with compassion and respect.
- Utilize standard office/business equipment.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Experience with veterinary software.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.
- Organizational skills.
- Critical thinking to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations.
- Flexible schedule including weekend and holiday shifts.
