Pay Range: $20–$25/hr
Seasonal Associate Consulting Arborist for Rainbow Treecare (a division of Rainbow Companies). Your primary responsibility is to provide entry‑level sales support to our Consulting Arborist team throughout the Twin Cities. This position is an integral part of our industry‑leading consulting team and is intended to allow for the development of skills necessary to advance to the position of Consulting Arborist.
You have an interest in helping to manage an urban ecosystem through your efforts. You will be responsible for evaluating the current condition of ash trees and their suitability for protection against emerald ash borer, as well as a growing selection of other landscape trees for their suitability for both proactive and reactive treatment strategies. Plant identification is also an important function.
You will conduct tree inventories and collect various data for each plant into one of several databases. Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of organization are necessary to communicate proposals, our brand, and the benefits of long‑term tree management in a high‑quality manner. The anticipated employment period for this role is April to September 2026.
- Conduct GIS tree inventories for residential, municipal, and commercial clients
- Staff the Emerald Ash Borer “Hotline” to respond to client requests for proposals
- Provide evaluations of ash tree conditions
- Provide evaluations of a selection of other landscape trees and their conditions
- Prepare and present proposals to homeowners in a timely manner
- Make follow‑up calls on existing recommendations to clients
- Attend weekly sales & science meetings
- Two‑year degree in Urban Forestry, related field, or practical experience
- A basic foundation in local tree identification
- Valid driver’s license and commitment to safe driving
- Certified Tree Inspector or ability to pass the exam within 60 days of hire
- Four‑year degree in Urban Forestry or related field
- Past sales or customer service experience
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience using GIS or similar software for creating and managing plant inventories
- Current ISA certification
Work is performed outdoors in any weather element throughout urban and rural areas. You may be required to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects, and may be exposed to safety hazards and hazardous tools and equipment. Safety precautions, including use of safety equipment, must be followed. You must be able to lift 50 pounds at any given time.
