SummaryProvides professional level casework services; screens, identifies, assesses, and refers students; offers support services, crisis services, and social/emotional skill instruction; connects students to external resources as needed.
Essential FunctionsThis list highlights major duties and requirements. Incumbents may perform additional job-related duties and need specific knowledge and skills.
- Performs special education due process duties; serves as administrative designee on IEP team; facilitates meetings, notes, and completes paperwork.
- Provides direct social/emotional services to students with disabilities; evaluates and assesses students.
- Contacts parents regarding meetings and rights; conducts interviews; responds to questions.
- Assists with due process timelines.
- Provides evidence-based, culturally responsive interventions; consults with staff.
- Collaborates with community mental health providers and case managers.
- Connects families with basic needs resources; communicates with community partners.
- Supports students and families around grief, trauma, suicide ideation; provides classroom lessons; collaborates with crisis assessors.
- Prepares CPS referrals for abuse and neglect concerns.
- Implements attendance interventions.
- Coordinates 504 accommodations.
- Intervenes in student alcohol/drug issues.
- Promotes district mission and fosters a respectful, cooperative environment.
Must perform duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:
Certificates and LicensesActive driver's license;
Masters and LICSW licensure preferred; school counseling or psychology licensure may be considered.
Knowledge: District policies, social work principles, laws and regulations, disabilities, community resources, computer applications, business English.
Skills: Developing treatment plans, interpreting laws, prioritizing tasks, computer proficiency, effective communication, teamwork, commitment to district values, and responsible performance aligned with core values.
Physical and Mental RequirementsWork involves sitting, lifting up to 20 pounds, reading, and communication; accommodations available for disabilities.
