Role Description

We are seeking a Director of Flock Operations to oversee daily flock management and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and production. As the Director of Flock Operations, you will be solely responsible for the planning and management of everything leading up to eggs being transported from a layer farm to a packing facility. This includes pullet management, layer management, flock schedules, nutrition plans, pasture management, certification management, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Duties
  • Oversee daily operations, production, and quality standards
  • Manage the company's flocks to maintain compliance with internal standards, certification requirements, and regulatory guidelines
  • Develop, implement, and monitor on-farm policies to support company objectives, monitor flock health and production, and meet necessary reporting requirements
  • Work with feed mills and nutritionists to develop optimal nutrition rations for all phases of the hen life cycle
  • Develop and maintain pullet development schedule in conjunction with hatchery partners to support company growth requirements
  • Track, plan, and manage flock population and depopulation schedules
  • Monitor flock health across all farms and coordinate veterinary assistance as needed
  • Monitor flock production rates to maximize production efficiency
  • Monitor and test pastures to ensure proper rest cycles and soil improvement
  • Provide or support periodic farm tours to customers, buyers, and certifiers
  • Highlight on-farm practices by taking pictures/video during farm visits
  • Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to maintain competitive advantage
