Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner - PRN

Job Location:

Position Type:

Essential Functions
  • Performs evaluation and problem identification of patients.
  • Performs history and physical examination of patients.
  • Writes prescriptions, orders and interprets laboratory data and radiological tests.
  • Monitors patient status and response to treatments.
  • Documents findings in the medical record.
  • Recommends appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Provides education and counseling for patients. Directs patient and/or family to agencies dealing with specific illnesses/diseases.
  • Orders appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Performs procedures for which practitioner is credentialed as dictated by patient need.
  • Interacts with nursing staff.
  • Participates in daily team rounding, periodic M&M sessions and department conferences/teaching opportunities.
  • Participates in Departmental quality assurance, risk management, and compliance efforts.
Required Licenses
  • Valid KY Nursing License. Approved National Certification recognized by the KY Board.
Required Certifications
  • BLS and ACLS.
Required Skills
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and high work level capacity.
  • Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and other health care team members.
  • Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
  • Self-directed, with sound decision making, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and abide by all HIPPA regulations.
  • Participates in ongoing patient experience improvement activities.
