Description
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Diesel Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintenance work on company fleet vehicles and tractor trailers to maintain the highest level of performance and safety. All work performed on vehicles will be done in accordance with industry standards and complies with state regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
- Use diagnostic tools and knowledge to identify mechanical and technical defects on vehicles.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines and other parts of the vehicle thoroughly.
- Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires.
- Navigate data bases to retrieve the necessary technical manuals, schematics, and procedures to determine the extent of repairs necessary. Then analyze and comprehend manuals and schematics to perform the necessary repairs and/or maintenance.
- Maintain work area by staying organized and cleaning up after each job is performed.
- Use basic knowledge to operate power tools, hand tools, sotters, welders, forklifts, heavy machinery, cranes, and other potentially dangerous machinery in the proper manner, with caution and complying with all company and government procedures and regulations.
- At all times, this person will perform all tasks, duties, and procedures in a manner that is safe for themselves and others by adhering to company and government standards
- Complete all training that is assigned by deadlines.
- Maintain knowledge on all manufacturer changes, upgrades, or recalls.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by department managers.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and safe work environment by interacting with peers, management and support resources in a way that promotes teamwork and a commitment to excellence.
Requirements
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of technical course work in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment preferred, but not required
- 3+ years of experience as a Diesel/Heavy Equipment Tech. (Must have experience or formal education).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to move around the dealership building and grounds without assistance.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, crouch, kneel, stand, reach, grasp, crawl, walk, or climb.
- Ability to climb in, out of, and under large farm equipment.
- Ability to operate all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds regularly, lift up-to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift 80 pounds.
- Possess a visual acuity that will allow you to see small cracks, holes, and parts.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment or outside in inclement weather.
