We are seeking a proactive Sales & Use Tax Accountant to focus heavily on Sales and Use Tax compliance while supporting general accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone who can learn the business quickly, identify opportunities for process improvement, and make recommendations. While day‑to‑day accounting and month/quarter/year‑end close are handled by an external CPA, this position will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within internal processes.

pay range

$40.00/yr – $55.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee monthly Sales and Use Tax filings and ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
  • Monitor and analyze employee expenditures and company income/expense accounts.
  • Generate financial reports using income and expenditure data.
  • Review cash flow processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of financial documents with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage and maintain financial and accounting software (Quick Books and related systems).
  • Support inventory reconciliation between CRM system and Quick Books ledger.
  • Collaborate with external CPA for year‑end reconciliations and preparation of corporate tax filings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Evaluate current accounting workflows and identify inefficiencies.
  • Recommend and implement best practices to streamline processes and reduce errors.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and optimize operations.
Business Process Optimization
  • Analyze cash flow and propose strategies to improve liquidity and financial stability.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement process enhancements that support business growth.
  • Drive initiatives that improve integration between accounting systems and operational platforms (e.g., CRM and Quick Books).
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of Sales and Use Tax regulations and filing requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Quick Books and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external partners.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to tax compliance and general ledger functions.
