NoteWe currently have a need for speakers of Arabic (Egyptian dialect), Portuguese, and Mandarin, but will add interpreters of other languages to our database for future opportunities that may arise.
Job OverviewThe Interpreter provides oral interpretation services in person and remotely to families, teachers, and administrators during various events throughout the school year. These events may include, but are not limited to: parent‑teacher conferences, open houses/curriculum nights, special education meetings, and school‑sponsored family events. These services may take place during the school day or outside of the school day. The Interpreter will work in collaboration with, and will report to the Director of English Acquisition, Equity, and Access, the English Learner Education (ELE) administrative assistant, and the principal(s).
Duties- Attends assignments, and provides oral interpretation to families and school personnel;
- Performs other duties, as needed.
- Ability to understand and interpret to/from English and another language;
- A medical interpreter certificate (preferred, but not required);
- Experience interpreting for special education meetings (preferred, but not required);
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.
