Chipton-Ross is seeking a Machinist 2 for a contract opportunity in Hopkinton, MA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):- High School Diploma or equivalent and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Silver torch brazing.
- Set up and operate a Southwestern DPM with Proto Trak controls.
- Deburring, Dagging.
Looking for a Machinist 2 to support our machine shop and brazing department.
Responsibilities:Silver torch braze brass flanges onto waveguide, braze copper fittings onto brass plates, and 1/2 coolant lines. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as DPM milling machines, cold saw, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup;
uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Experience with aluminum and copper waveguide components.
- Fixturing parts for vacuum brazing.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma/GED is required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS:9/80 work week. This position will serve on-site at Hopkinton, MA.
