The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for meeting quarterly and yearly sales objectives by finding and developing new customers to create a robust “funnel” of active opportunities that facilitates meeting the company’s annual sales objectives.
Responsibilities- Prospect, engage, and qualify prospective customers. Generates meetings through the BDM network and prospecting activity to create new solar PV and energy storage business opportunities within both public and C&I sectors to build a sales opportunity funnel.
- Find and develop new channel partners to create new business opportunities and accelerate growth.
- Nurture existing opportunities from 1st meeting to customer “trigger” event. Build trust and present Solect’s proposed solutions to key decision makers.
- Collaborate with the Sales Operations team on marketing campaigns and new lead generation ideas, including events and trade shows.
- Engage internal resources throughout the sale cycle for design, engineering, proposal development, and contract support to facilitate closing new business.
- Maintain status and metrics of all project opportunities in Salesforce.
- Perform post‑installation follow‑up with the customer to ensure satisfaction and generate additional projects with the customer and from the customer’s network.
- Miscellaneous activities:
Training (70‑20‑10 plans), company initiatives, meetings, etc. - Takes leadership on key initiatives and OKRs.
- At least three years of successful sales or development experience in the Commercial Solar and/or Storage Industry, or the Energy Sector.
- Strong local network with ability to access “C‑level” key financial decision makers.
- Previous experience working with both Private and Public Sector customers in a collaborative setting.
- Strong financial acumen with comprehensive understanding of finance concepts applicable to “C‑level” financial decision makers, including Payback, Depreciation, and IRR.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; disciplined project development and workflow process within a team; manage multiple engagements and projects daily; meet deadlines; manage multiple tasks independently.
- Will visit customer sites to perform a solar assessment; occasionally climbing a ladder to access a roof.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce or similar CRM packages.
- Formal education: minimum college degree (BS or BA).
- Travel required fifteen (15%) of the time throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
- Must be located within and able to travel to the geographic location of the territory they serve for in‑person meetings & presentations and site evaluations.
- Having a background in electrical power is not critical but is helpful.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $90,000 – $110,000 USD. This range is an estimate, and base pay may vary above or below these amounts based on several factors, including location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full‑time employees at all levels.
