The Software Engineering team delivers next‑generation application enhancements and new products. We design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics, using advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and collaboration with internal and external partners.

As a Principal Software Engineer you will develop new AI applications from concept to production, advancing Dell’s technology into the future. You will work across the stack, learning new development methodologies and cutting‑edge technologies such as generative AI, data ingestion and Dev/MLOps. You will collaborate with product managers, leadership, engineers, data scientists, tech leads, strategy and stakeholders, using an agile, fast‑fail mentality.

You will pair program, lead and mentor within small cross‑functional teams.

• Work closely with other developers, product management and leadership to lead the delivery of initiatives.
• Share your ideas and opinions with the team.
• Develop and deliver new AI applications.
• Rotate through different projects and technologies.

• Strong understanding of programming logic and patterns.
• Experience in Dev Ops and Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as microservice architectures, CI/CD, containerization and orchestration.
• Open‑mindedness to quickly learn about new development methodologies and cutting‑edge technologies such as generative AI, data ingestion and Dev/MLOps.
• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate and shape technical vision.
• Experience in two or more of the following languages:
  Go, Java, Ruby, JavaScript, C++, Bash, Python, C, or others.

• 8+ years (bachelor’s degree), 6+ years (master’s degree) of software development, software architecture, or applied research; or equivalent experience.
• Experience or interest in Data Engineering skills such as ingestion and cleansing, working with vector, graph or relational databases, GenAI Models, prompt engineering, AI pipelines and frameworks (e.g., Lang Chain, Lang Graph, etc).

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Base salary range: $170,000 to $220,000.
