SEN Teacher – Primary

Location:

Smallfield, Surrey

Contract:

Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £150 - £230 a day (depending on experience)

Hours:

40 hours per week
- Term Time only
- Start time 8.15am
- Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm   

This is a specialist setting supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to ensure every child can make progress both academically and personally. Although it is a primary provision, many pupils are working approximately two academic years below their chronological age, making this role particularly well suited to an EYFS teacher.

Key Duties:

Plan, deliver and adapt curriculum content to meet pupils’ educational, physical and social needs

Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets for pupils

Assess, track and report on pupil progress in line with school policies and procedures

Deliver well-structured, engaging lessons with clear objectives and appropriate challenge

Contribute to annual reviews, including EHCPs, PEPs and LAC meetings

Keep up to date with developments in autism practice to enhance teaching and support

Use a positive, calm and non-confrontational approach to meet individual pupil needs

Skills and

Qualifications:

QTS is essential

Experience supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs

Ability to teach across a range of subjects

Knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profiles

Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Experience of a range of behaviour management strategies, including supporting pupils who present with challenging behaviour
