Learning and Development Trainer – Fostering/Social Worker

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person to join our Learning and Development team on a full‑time basis. You will work with foster carers, social workers and other stakeholders to deliver effective training that supports the children and young people in our care to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities and Competencies
  • Deliver engaging, reflective, and stimulating training (in‑person and online) to diverse audiences.
  • Understand fostering regulations, child‑care law, and regulatory inspection frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain engaging learning and training materials, integrating trauma‑informed and relationship‑based approaches.
  • Model Compass’s vision and values in practice and promote a comprehensive learning ethos.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; willingness to learn in‑house databases.
  • Apply strong reflective and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (social workers, managers, carers).
  • Work under pressure and manage workload whilst remaining calm and professional.
  • Apply strong safeguarding practice.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Previous training and facilitation experience with foster carers and social workers.
  • Coaching and guiding reflective skills.
  • Ability to create interactive digital content (SCORM packages, video modules).
  • Awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion in training delivery and ability to tailor content to culturally diverse audiences.
  • Awareness of Dyadic Developmental Practice principles.
