Trainee Quantity Surveyor

About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial Team. This role will support the commercial management of projects from contract award through to practical completion.
The successful candidate will work closely with our Commercial Manager, assisting in the financial and contractual control of projects across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to further develop their career within a supportive and growing team.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside the Commercial Manager, responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
* Assisting with commercial management of projects from Contract Award through to Practical Completion
* Liaising with the Purchasing Department regarding material procurement
* Managing project variation accounts through to Final Account negotiations and agreement
* Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
* Attending site visits to monitor project progress
* Preparing monthly cost reports, identifying potential cost variances and risks
* Assisting with Monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR)
* Liaising with Clients, Main Contractors, Subcontractors and Suppliers to build and maintain strong working relationships
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
* A Quantity Surveying degree (or working towards one)
* 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role (preferred)
* Strong numeracy and analytical skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* High level of IT proficiency, particularly Microsoft Excel
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* A proactive and professional approach
Package & Benefits
* Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
* Company Pension (following 3 months’ service)

* 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
* Annual leave increases by 1 day per year (up to 25 days maximum)
