Choice Teachers is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Science to lead the Science department at a well‑established academy in Rainham. This full‑time leadership position begins from September and involves responsibility for science across two sites, the main school and a Sixth-Form centre.

The successful candidate will lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will be responsible for curriculum planning, staff leadership, departmental performance, and maintaining high academic standards across all three key stages. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Science specialist looking to take the next step in their leadership career within a supportive academy environment.

• Lead, manage, and develop the Science department across KS3, KS4, and KS5
• Oversee curriculum planning, delivery, and GCSE & A-Level assessment
• Support and mentor Science teachers to ensure high‑quality teaching
• Monitor progress, attainment, and departmental performance
• Teach your specialist Science subject across relevant key stages
• Ensure the department meets whole‑school objectives and standards
• Contribute to school improvement initiatives and strategic planning

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
• Strong subject knowledge in science and familiarity across three disciplines
• Experience teaching Science across KS3, KS4 and ideally KS5
• Proven experience in a leadership or middle‑leadership role (e.g., Second in Department, Lead Practitioner)
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to motivate and develop staff within the department
• A commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for pupils
