We are seeking a dedicated SENCO to oversee the implementation and day-to-day management of our school's SEND policy, on a temporary basis. This role is crucial in coordinating provision for children with special educational needs and those who are intellectually advanced, ensuring they can achieve rapid progress in line with our high educational standards.
Day-to-day of the role:- Oversee the operation of the school's SEND policy and coordinate provision for children with special educational needs.
- Assist in identifying children with special educational needs and those who are intellectually advanced, supporting and teaching intervention programmes.
- Advise and support fellow teachers in setting targets for children with SEND.
- Manage teaching assistants and oversee their work with SEND pupils.
- Support the Headteacher in planning and delivering support for children benefit ting from the Pupil Premium.
- Manage resources for SEN and make effective use of the budget allocated for SEND.
- Maintain accurate records of all children with special educational needs.
- Liaise with parents, external agencies, including local authority support services, educational psychology services, health and social services, and voluntary bodies.
- Stay updated with current thinking in SEN matters and attend and deliver relevant training.
- Contribute positively to the effective working of the school.
- Provide occasional cover for teachers.
- Promote high standards of behaviour and a good working ethos.
- Develop effective working relationships within the school.
- Assist in offering extra-curricular clubs for children during lunch hours.
- Contribute to the wellbeing of the pupils in accordance with our policy.
- Play a full and active part in the life of the school community, supporting its ethos.
- Participate in professional development cycles.
- Support the school's responsibility for safeguarding children.
- Undertake other reasonable tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant educational background.
- Experience as a SENCO or in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience managing SEND provisions.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Commitment to professional development and staying current with educational practices and theories.
